Models On Top

It’s rare to see a top model on the cover of a consumer fashion magazine these days. Thankfully, Elle has decided to switch it up for their October issue and channel the 80′s with the gorgeous Chanel Iman (pictured above), Doutzen Kroes, Miranda Kerr, and Adriana Lima will each be gracing this months issue. Frankly I am excited as Chanel and Doutzen are two of my favorites and I’m happy to see them getting more exposure outside of editorials. Victoria’s Secret always brings good things to those with wings!

The issue hits stands Sept. 20th.

Check out Elle.com to see the rest of the models and watch video of the shoot.

Now let’s discuss that blurb at the bottom, “We’re Married, We’re Bored, We Cheat”… cheeky

Oh Happy Day!

The MARIMEKKO online shop at Crate & Barrel has launched! In case you haven’t noticed, Crate & Barrel has been committed to bringing he Finnish design house’s much sought after thoughtful and colorful designs to the US for many years. Just last October they opened a Marimekko Shop inside their Soho location, and soon more will be popping up. Head on over to Crate and Barrel’s site and start filling up your cart with Sukat Makkaralla tumblers and throw a cocktail party in anticipation of Marimekko’s first flagship store opening in the Fall!

Reflective Writing

Ah, West Elm.  You bring, we the people, accessible luxury, and for that I thank you. In fact, I may now even be in love with you as you have produced these two fine specimens: The Metal and Mirrored version of the Parsons Desk. ($399, and $599 respectively) I have nicknamed them the ” His and Her Parsons Desks” – Oh, how clever I am! Writing table, console, vanity, this simple and highly functional piece can find a use for whatever you desire. I was thinking of purchasing two in white for my home office (that doesn’t exist) until I happened upon the newest finishes. Now I can’t decide! If West Elm decides to design a leather-covered version and market it to the masses, I’ll be giddy with delight.

Come On-a Showhouse

Today the 38th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse finally opens its doors to the public! The event raises $1 million for the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club and showcases the industry’s best designers, decorators, and taste-makers including Cullman and Kravis, Darren Henault, Katie Ridder, and Vincent Wolfe. The event is usually held during Spring, but the harsh reality of the real estate market caved the deal. However, that turned out to be not such a bad thing because it has moved back to the Upper East Side and the 2010 Holiday House will be hot on its heels!

The showhouse is located at 106 East 71st Street and will be open today thugh Thursday, November 11th.

Mohr, Mohr, Mohr

Not one to shy away from a little bit of peculiarity, German designer Patrick Mohr has decided to grace the S/S 2011 Mercedes Benz Berlin Fashion Week Runway with bearded models. His shows usually border on thought provoking and creepy, but this one fell flat for me. While he did add some color (it is Spring after all) his usual bag of depressing is in full force this season. Perhaps I am too uptight to appreciate his offerings, but I really find it hard to imagine the appeal of Bohemia meets homeless meets every post-apocalyptic movie ever created approach to fashion remotely appetizing.

The Root of all Evil

Domino Effect

Rejoice! Like a phoenix risen from the ashes, beloved shelter magazine Domino has returned…sort of. The archives are scheduled to be offered through Brides.com. Domino is the Lucky of the interior design world, and brides-to-be tend to be looking for the items to make their nest complete, so the decision makes sense. Although, I would have preferred to see it as a stand-alone site. As a late reader of Domino however, I’ll be happy with whatever access I can get to all the things I missed over the years. With this news, in addition to Lonnymag.com, I have a quick and easy reference guide for picking up some new ideas.

Drink Up!

You can’t have a proper party without decent cocktails. Elle Decor lets us in on a few designers’ favorite summer libations. My favorite would have to be the East End Cooler suggested by David Easton. As far as I’m concerned you can never go wrong with gin. So bring out your finest Riedel, call Grace’s, and get ready to throw a fabulous summer fête!

Changes! They are a Comin’!

Summer is officially here and with the new season comes new changes! I apologize for the random inconsistent posts, this project has taken a backseat to the other goings on in my life. But no more! I plan on turning this into a regularly updated blog  encompassing Interiors, Fashion, Technology, and interesting tidbits I find along the way. In addition, I am getting more serious about decoration and design and will post more of my personal works and ideas as they come along. In time, I hope to build a following of people interested in my world and all the things that inspire me.

Enjoy!

Into the Blue

A few weeks ago while on a stroll in SoHo, a couple of friends and I happened upon a street exhibition of select works by Isack Kousnsky. He is an avant-garde artist from Israel and has been active in the New York City art scene since the 1980′s. His photography is nothing short of amazing. The deep, vibrant colors captured in his oceanscapes (my favorite) showcase the majestic beauty of water, even at its most severe. His collection covers a wide range and consists of cityscapes, nature shots, portraits and politics that is sure to enchant and inspire.

The photos I took with my phone doesn’t do his work justice, so hop on over to his online gallery to view his complete works.

ClASS & CrASS

Usually, I’d be a little turned off at such a blatant display of vulgarity to describe an exceptional product used in some very fine homes; but I dare you to read the above statement and not be amused, intrigued, and prepared to buy yourself a BIG ASS FAN. It helps if you imagine it being read in the voice of Paul Mooney…or Mr. T.
